EMILY PASLAY, LMFT

Emily is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (License #1385) whom holds a Master’s of Science Degree from John Brown University in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern State University in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice. Since graduation, she has opened her own private practice in Oklahoma City, Reclaiming Hope Counseling, LLC. At Reclaiming Hope Counseling, she specializes in trauma and sees first responders and/or spouses. Throughout her career, she has worked with many in the First Responder community including police, firefighters, park rangers, correctional officers, detectives, EMT’s, retired highway patrol, and veterans.

Emily has a wide variety of trainings including being EMDR Certified, Level 2 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, CISM training through ICISF, Serving Heroes First Responder Chaplain/Peer Support Level 3, and is a certified clinician through the Emergency Responder and Public Safety Certified Clinician. This training, along with her educational background, enables her to be a valuable resource for anyone in the First Responder community.

To make sure that everyone receives the best and most beneficial care, Emily tailors’ therapy to each individual, because there is no “one size fits all” approach. She uses a wide variety of different types of therapy including: EMDR, CBT, Mindfulness, and Solution Focused. During sessions she provides you with strategies and practical tools for daily use. Emily strives to build a solid foundation of rapport with her clients.

Emily also has a contract/agreement with the Del City Fire and Police Department, and Oklahoma State Park Rangers that she had had for over 2 years. She provides quarterly mental health trainings for CLEET, weekly wellness visits, development/overseeing peer support, and provides CISM services for critical incidents. She loves contracting with departments and has continued in becoming a valuable asset for the First Responder Community and those who keep us safe.

When Emily does have free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children. A blended family keeps most of her free time booked, especially chasing a 4-year-old son, 18-year-old daughter, and 2 step daughters who are 19 and 21. When she does get time, she likes being outdoors hiking, and going to the range to shoot her Smith & Wesson M&P Shield Plus. In addition to her professional pursuits, Emily is engaged in an ongoing (and currently unresolved) effort to convince her husband that she should become a police officer alongside having her practice. She remains hopeful that future negotiations will be successful.

DR. JANA TRAN, PHD

Dr. Jana Tran is a licensed psychologist who earned a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Houston. She first worked with combat Veterans at the Michael E. Debakey VA Medical Center, specializing in evidence-based treatments for PTSD, including Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, and CBT for Insomnia and Nightmares. Next, as a staff psychologist at the Houston Fire Department, she responded to critical incidents and provided therapy to first responders, developing an additional specialization in couples therapy. Most recently, she worked at NASA conducting astronaut trainings and mission support.

Dr. Tran is now in full-time private practice, where she integrates her specialties and offers trauma-focused couples therapy. Rather than treating trauma and couples work as separate endeavors, she provides a unified space for exploring how each person's trauma history and learned coping patterns contribute to conflict and disconnection.

Dr. Tran grounds her work in Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT-C), which involves actively mapping the cycle of conflict, or the pattern of reactions that lead to escalation, so that both partners can see the dynamic clearly and begin to step outside of it. She also draws on other frameworks, such as the Gottman Method, to help couples build concrete skills for de-escalating conflict and engaging in productive repair conversations. Throughout this work, couples develop a shared language and a clearer path toward rebuilding emotional safety.

With her background in PTSD treatment, Dr. Tran helps couples identify trauma triggers and protective responses and connect them to their conflict cycle. Couples often discover how one partner's wounds directly activate the other's. She incorporates approaches such as Somatic Experiencing and Parts Work (or Internal Family Systems) to help partners navigate these raw spots, regulate their nervous systems, and begin to recognize and respond to each other with compassion. As that recognition deepens, so does the connection.

Dr. Tran developed a deep respect and appreciation for operational populations through her years of direct service alongside them. She is passionate about continuing to serve these communities and is committed to the lifelong endeavor of cultural humility. She meets clients with curiosity and an understanding of cultural values such as mission over self, the stigma around help-seeking, and the ways that operational stress can shape both the individual and the relationship at home.

Dr. Tran is licensed in Texas and has the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) in all states except Alaska, California, Hawaii, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, and New Mexico.
